Clive Staples Lewis, commonly referred to as C.S. Lewis, was a British writer and scholar, best known for his works of fiction, including The Chronicles of Narnia series, and his non-fiction religious texts.

Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1898. He attended Oxford University, where he studied literature and languages. After serving in the British Army during World War I, he returned to Oxford and later became a Fellow and Tutor at Magdalen College.

Lewis was a prolific writer, producing works in a variety of genres including fiction, poetry, and non-fiction. In addition to the Narnia series, which is his best-known work, he also wrote science fiction, literary criticism, and Christian apologetics.

Lewis was a Christian theologian and apologist, and his religious writings had a significant influence on the development of modern Christian thought. He was also a member of the literary group known as the Inklings, which included J.R.R. Tolkien and other prominent writers.

Lewis died in 1963, but his works have continued to be popular and influential, and he is remembered as one of the most important Christian writers of the 20th century.
